An interview with South Florida’s most eligible bachelorette… my mom!

Earlier this year, word spread around the internet that ABC would be filming a spinoff of their highly-successful show The Bachelor; with this version focused on senior citizens looking for love!

My mom happens to be single, and also happens to be a huge fan of The Bachelor. So this opportunity sounded quite exciting!

At first, we were wondering whether she would even qualify as a “senior citizen”. My mom is a beautiful, vibrant, energetic woman who loves hiking, hot yoga, and many other activities that are popular with people half her age. Honestly, the only thing that qualifies her as a senior citizen is the year on her birth certificate.

Unfortunately, the show never happened (thanks 2020!) but I thought it might be fun to do an interview similar to what the show might have asked potential contestants.

Ladies and gentleman, meet South Florida’s most eligible bachelorette… My mom!

Are you looking for love? Why do you think you haven’t found “the one”?

Absolutely! I unfortunately spent many years in an unhealthy relationship, which I stayed in for my kids. Looking back, I realize that maybe I thought I didn’t deserve love myself. Over the past 6 years I have been on a journey of self-realization and have truly learned that I AM worthy of love. Now that my heart and mind is open to a loving relationship, I look forward to the day that I will meet my future partner, someone to share this beautiful life with.

Why do you think your previous relationships failed?

I think that my previous relationships failed because for a long time I didn’t have the courage to be alone. I had a lot of emotional pain that was buried deep inside, and would accept any form of “love” that was given to me. Now that I have truly healed myself and my life long pain, I finally feel that I deserve to be loved the right way, and now I won’t settle for anything less.

What are you looking for in a potential partner?

Physically, the most important thing to me is that my partner is in good shape. Facial looks are not a factor as much, because when I really like someone’s personality, their inner beauty shines through. However a person’s body says a lot about their lifestyle, which is very important to me. As a holistic nutritionist I value health as a high priority in my life, and am looking for a partner who does the same. A nice body on a man (especially of my age) says that he cares about what he eats and likes to stay active, just like I do.

The number one personality trait I look for in a partner is kindness. Genuine, deep kindness towards ALL people and animals, not just towards me. Someone who is considerate, thoughtful, and affectionate. Also, I really enjoy being around someone who is adventurous and spontaneous, and can top it off with an amazing sense of humor! But mostly, I look for that “unexplainable thing” that you just know you feel when you meet the one.

What are your hobbies?

My hobbies and interests include going outdoors and enjoying this beautiful earth! Hiking, cycling, sailing, traveling, yoga, working out, photography.. As well as music, going to concerts & live theatre. If I’m not out and about doing something fun, I’m usually at home cooking vegan recipes from my healthy living blog!

What are some things on your bucket list?

I don’t have a bucket list and I don’t believe in them either! I like to live every day in the moment and be spontaneous. So if something strikes my fancy I usually just go do it! However, I do have a travel wish list. I love traveling but have been waiting to meet a partner to have someone to travel with. I have considered solo traveling and do travel a bit with my daughter.. However I feel that part of the magic of seeing the world is doing it with someone you love. When the time is right, I would love to travel with my partner to Australia, the Greek Islands, the Maldives, and to see the Northern Lights!

What are your talents?

I don’t consider myself to be talented in the traditional way (although I always wished I could sing). However I have been told that I have the talent/skill of being a good listener. Many of my friends even call me their life coach! I just believe that most of the time, people don’t really want advice, they just want someone to listen. I am always there for people I care about, and I will listen and only give advice if asked for it. It makes me happy when I feel like I have helped a loved one work through some tough times, so it has made me interested in possibly pursuing a career as a therapist.

What is your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment has been raising my children to be genuinely good people. They are both kind, considerate, loving, and smart. I take pride in raising two people that make the world a better place just by being in it. As far as business accomplishments: When I was 28 years old I started a spa in Toronto, Canada which I owned and operated for 17 years. It is still there over 35 years later and has been one of the most successful businesses of its kind in the area. Later on, I became the publisher of a healthy living magazine in Florida for about 12 years, where I helped to spread the word of healthy living. I feel good knowing that I could help people take control of their health and improve their quality of life.

Well, there you have it! An inside look at the life and love of South Florida’s most eligible bachelorette. At the time of posting, my mom is still single (hint hint fellas!) but regardless she is out here living her best life. If one day a silver-haired Prince Charming does come sweep her off her feet, he will certainly be the luckiest guy in the world.
